Miami Seaquarium

During the trip down to South Florida, we decided to visit Miami Seaquarium. Well, lived there for over 10 years but we have never been there but now that we are tourists guess we have to try.

The trip starts early enough (in my standard anyway). We headed down around 11AM on Friday. Well, it's the week after Christmas so the traffic wasn't bad. Using Magellen as our navigator, we entered Miami, FL and Miami Seaquarium. All set and Magellen starts her navigation. After 40 mins and we finally at the end of I-95 woo hoo!! The direction kept on going to US1 and ended in Coral Gable. Ok.. I have never been to Miami Seaquarium but I know that it's by the ocean. And we are nowhere near the beach. Darn Magellen!!! Note to self, get the address from reliable resource and enter to GPS instead of using search funtion!

Good thing hubby has the internet access phone. Got the address. Re-enter address while I drove around and found ourselves in Little Havana. Well, at least we got to see it after all these years. I'm sure glad we got lost at noon not at night!

Got new direction and head East toward the beach. Now that's more like it. It's very nice beach area. Wish we had come here sooner and brought our bathing suit to check out the beach.

Arrived there and headed in. First thing first, got the map and show time. It's a small, cute aquarium. I think if you plan for more fish and fancy tanks type, then you will be disappointed. But if you are for the live shows then you will be thrilled. We're from GA so I know that we only want to see all those shows instead of looking at the fish in the tank.

First stop, Top Deck Dolphin show. It's packed. I have to carry Jasmine on my shoulder. After the first round of splashing Zach had had enough. So I switched and took Zach down to look at the dolphin from the bottom.

Even it's December in FL, but I can feel the humidity and I'm already ready to go home. But after all we have driven for over 40 mins I have to stay at least that long.

Next stop, it's time for Killer Whale show. The show starts at 2:20pm and at 1:45pm the line is already formed. We decided to just go there and wait around. Luckily we got to wait in the front of the line under the shade. Once they opened the door, we headed to the seat on the side 4 row up. Good choice as I am not ready to be soaked in this fishy smelly water. The show was fun and lively. The music was good and very Miami. We enjoyed the whole show and wished that it will last even longer. Plus sat under the shade with the breeze was sure beat stood there with 5 year old on my shoulder.

Next show was the Flipper show. The location of the show is toward the back of the park and it's right by the beach. It was very nice. The show was entertaining enough but after seeing 2 shows previously it started to feel the same. And because the stadium is much bigger it didn't feel as intimate and involved as the Killer Whale show.

Ok. Snack time. Can't go on without any sugar refill. Stopped by the vending machine for some ice cream for the kids and frozen lemonade for us.

Now, it's time to slowly head out. Before we left we stopped by the family area that they had a few inflatable slide and jump for kids along with lawn mower train ride. It's a nice little break to satisfy Zach's obsession with train. And it's time to go before we hit traffic.

Thank you Miami for a nice little break for us! Adios!
